The community overwhelmingly voted for Mr Odinga in 2013 during the tightly contested elections and President Uhuru Kenyatta managed to scoop only the constitutional requirement of 25 percent from both Nyamira and Kisii Counties.

Nyong’o who was drumming support for ODM Nyacheki ward aspirant Naphtali Onkoba on Sunday said the community has been part of the ‘ignored’ few and said it had only one ‘golden’ chance to make a critical decision.

“The Gusii community has been a party of struggles for freedom and good government. Anyona (George) and Enock Magara represented you during those days. We only have one golden chance to send Raila to State House and this is the time,” he said.

“You have numbers and those numbers are critical if used well. We still have time to ensure many of you registers. This community has suffered under the past regimes and let’s not get tired calling for change,” he added.

The Jubilee Party through its point men among them Joash Maangi and Charles Nyachae has been pitching tent in the vote-rich regions as the scramble for votes continues.
