Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has insisted that his administration will fully engage its citizens in determination of development agenda in compliance with the Constitution.
In an exclusive interview with this reporter on Friday, Nyagarama said public participation will enhance harmony within his government and the public on critical matters that need urgent support from various government departments.
Nyagarama also said public participation will reduce the mistrust which exists between his government and members of the public.
“My government has been exercising public participation in determination of projects to be given first priority but I want it now to be more vibrant than before,” he said.
“This is where members of the public get a chance to share with us so that we set priorities for our county. It also reduces mistrust between members of the public and the county government,” added Mr Nyagarama.
He directed all government departments to start a monthly meet the -people tour programme that will see residents interact with them twice a month compared to the previous practice that only gave residents only a single day in a month to interact with its leaders.
“I have directed all departments to ensure that our people are met twice a month so that they interact with us. We want to know their priorities to avoid clash of interests,” he said.
