More than 150 students who sat for Kenya Certificate for Secondary Exams (KCSE) 2015 from Sironga Girls in Nyamira County will get direct admission to public universities, school head Helen Mabese has confirmed.

Releasing the results on Thursday morning, Education CS Fred Matiang'i revealed that 5,000 candidates had their results cancelled due to exam malpractices.

According to Ms Mabese, the Nyamira-based institution recorded a mean grade of 9.7, a slight improvement from 2014’s 8.90.

“I am very delighted that we are getting where we belong. My 2015 candidates managed a mean grade of 9.7 and at least 250 have scored grades that will give them direct entry to public universities. This is great moment for us and we look forward to reach 10.5 in 2016 edition,” she told this reporter on phone.

The institution had enrolled 268 candidates and managed to record 45As, a result which Ms Mabese attributed to hard work and determination.

“We had a smart class in 2015 and through their determination and endurance; they have managed to make us proud. They deserved it and have actually set a high standard that we will seek to replicate in subsequent exams,” she said.

She hailed parents, local leadership and ministry of education for ‘terrific’ support and backed the leadership of CS Fred Matiang'i.

“We received terrific support from parents, local leadership and the ministry of education. The CS was in our school recently and I think he has set a good ground for us this year and we won’t let him down,” she said.
