The DP has been crisscrossing the nation and receiving endorsements from allied politicians, despite President Uhuru Kenyatta's warnings against early politicking.

Speaking on Monday, Anyonka observed that the DP has decided to go after the vote, and no longer cares about what Uhuru thinks, since Uhuru has hinted at not backing him.

The commentator stated that the DP appears well prepared for the race, and at the same time unwilling to let go of his ambitions, hence his open defiance to the president.

"Ruto has made up his mind, he is going after the vote. He doesn't care what people say. He is financially prepared and doesn't need the president (Ruto ameamua anataka kura, museme musiseme yeye anataka kura. Ameamua, amejitayarisha kifedha and he doesn't need the president)," he said.

He made the remarks on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha on Monday morning, where he noted that Uhuru is on the other hand just taking it easy, though he is clearly unhappy.

Uhuru has reportedly rapped some unnamed members of Jubilee Party for engaging in early campaigns, which has been seen as an indirect shot at forces surrounding the DP.

Anyonka said that unhappy as he is, Uhuru is just acting the gentleman, but might at the tail end of his tenure take stern political punitive measures to punish Ruto for disrespecting him.

"For the first time in history, we are witnessing a Deputy President doing defiance. The president is just being a gentleman and might politically revisit this issue (For the first time in history tunaona Deputy President akifanya defiance. Rais anakuwa tu a gentleman na huenda politically akaangalia haya mambo)," he added.

However, the DP has denied claims of engaging in premature politicking and denying Uhuru a chance to deliver in line with his agenda.
