The Ministry of Education has released school opening dates for term one to term three in 2020.

In a letter to regional directors of Education across the country, the ministry noted that schools will open for term one on January 6 2020. 

The letter, which was seen by K24 Digital, further states that the first term mid-term break will be between 17-21 February, and the schools will be closed on 10 April 2019 for Primary and Secondary. 

Schools will open for the second term on 4 May with mid-term break slated between 15-19 June, while school closing date is slated on August 7. 

Term three will open on August 31 and closed on October 30. The ministry noted that term three will have no mid-term break. 

According to the letter, primary school pupils will be in school for 38 weeks while secondary school students will study for 41 weeks. 

The letter also included expected dates for both Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). 

Both exams are expected to be done in November, with KCPE staring on 2-5 November while KCSE will be 6-30 November 2020. 

The Teachers’ Training Colleges’ (TTC)school dates were also announced. 

Term one begins from January 7 to April 10, term two begins on May 4 to August 7 while term three will run from September 1 to November 13. 

TTC students will be in school for a total of 39 weeks.
