The Precious Talents School in Dagoreti is under reconstruction four months after a tragic accident at the school that left 8 pupils dead and several others injured.
The school which had been closed following the collapse of a classroom wall received donations from several top leaders including President Uhuru Kenyatta, Nairobi County Assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi and Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris.
Approximately 800 pupils were transferred to neighbouring schools after the accident.
The school is hoping to reopen after receiving a permit from the ministry of education.
The owner of the school Moses Wainaina who had been arrested and later on released on bail admitted that the accident was indeed unfortunate.
"The tragedy that befell us was very unfortunate. We could not expect such a thing in our school. But because it happened to us and not to the animals in the bush, we accepted it as it was.
(Janga lilikuja it was very unfortunate, hatungeweza ku expect such a thing in our school. Lakini kwa ajili ilitendeka na ikikakua ni sisi ilipata, haikupata wanyama msituni, tulichukua tu vile ilivyokuja)," Moses Wainaina said.
He further advised other private schools to ensure that they uphold the safety of their pupils by ensuring that foundations of the buildings are strong.
