Nakuru County was not affected by the deadly ethnic clashes in Narok, deputy governor Joseph Ruto has said.
Speaking on Tuesday after donating foodstuff, blankets and medicine to displaced families camping at Olenguruone DEB Primary School, Ruto said that no resident of Nakuru County was involved in the Olpusimori clashes.
He maintained that the county government was only giving a helping hand and a brotherly gesture to the neighbouring Narok County.
"I want to warn people peddling lies that our county was in any way involved or affected by the recent clashes to desist from giving us a bad name because as a county we are very peaceful and we are only extending a helping hand to the county government of Narok whose people sought refuge here following the clashes," he said.
He added that they would continue working together with the county government of Narok to ensure support to all those who were displaced by the chaos.
At the same time he warned the youth in the area against being incited to cause havoc, adding that police were already on the ground to hunt down all those who were involved in the chaos.
The deadly skirmishes which began on Christmas Day are said to have been triggered by the killing of two herders in Sierra Leone, Narok South.
Over 2,000 people are said to have been displaced following the skirmishes.
Several houses were also torched, rendering many families homeless.
