Garissa Town MP Aden Duale has rubbished claims by some opposition leaders that Jubilee government is tribal.
Duale says that claims by the opposition are baseless.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Sunday, Duale defended President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government saying that it follows laid down procedures in public appointments.
Duale accused the opposition of coming up with cheap excuses to discredit the government and also engage in malicious propaganda.
“The Jubilee government has strictly adhered to laid down principles on ethnic representation in public appointments,” he said during the interview.
“It is malicious for some people to claim that only two tribes (Kikuyu and Kalenjin) run the government,” he added.
Duale who is also the National Assembly Majority leader lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government saying it has put in place measures to fight ethnicity.
The MP also defended the government against opposition claims that President Kenyatta is 'helpless' in fighting graft.
He said that Uhuru Kenyatta government has taken various steps to eliminate graft.
Duale, however, blamed government agencies mandated to fight graft of laxity in taming corruption.
The National Assembly majority leader said that the Jubilee government aims to unite and involve all Kenyans in leadership of the country.
Some opposition leaders are accusing the Uhuru government of perpetuating tribalism.
Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Sunday during a rally in Nyamira County hit out at Uhuru’s government claiming it has failed to incorporate all Kenyans in leadership.
He claimed that the country’s’ top government posts are held by two tribes at the expense of others.
Kalonzo said that tribalism and corruption will be a thing of the past when Cord forms government next year.
