The accused is said to have committed the crime between April 1 and April 20, 2016 at Gichobo village in Njoro town.

He is also accused of touching the private parts of the minor, an act which is against the law on the same day in the same area.

In addition, the accused also faced a second charge of raping another minor, aged 10 between May 10 and May 24, this year from the same village.

The accused, however, denied the claims before Principal Magistrate Bernard Mararo who ordered the accused to remain in custody until June 6 for hearing for the first case.

The second case will be heard on June 13.
