The latest fire incident on Sunday evening affected Eronge Mixed DEB Secondary School in North Mugirango, Nyamira County which destroyed a boys' dormitory.

And in an interview with Nyamira residents on Monday, the parents said the fire cases are alarming, hence the need for President Uhuru Kenyatta to step in and help resolve the matter.

"For a while now all we have been hearing in the media is fire outbreaks in many schools in Kenya and yet President Uhuru has just kept mum on the issue. My appeal to him is to come out and help address the matter with urgency," said Margret Mogere.

On his part, Kennedy Mogaka urged Christians to pray for the nation and seek God's mercies that will help curb the fires.

"Fire outbreaks in our schools have become rampant but that doesn't mean the situation has gotten out of hand. That is why I am urging believers to pray to God that he helps us come out of this mess," he added.
