The legislator said the expulsion was biased as the party only suspended MPs who come from areas whose seats ODM thinks it will retain easily.

"The party has suspended MPs who come from areas that ODM thinks will be easily won with or without the incumbents, and in areas where the current MPs are thought to be influential they have been given more time, that is just PR," said Barua.

Barua also castigated Kisii MPs Richard Onyonka (Kitutu Chache North) and Simon Ogari (Bomachoge Chache) for rejoining ODM weeks after decamping to Jubilee Party.

He said the legislators should have been bold enough to stay in the new party and be ready for any eventuality once they decided to change their support.

"When the MPs decided to shift to Jubilee, they should have been ready for some consequences including meeting opposition on the ground and they would have to live with that," said the first time MP.

On Monday, ODM threw a spanner into the works by expelling rebels who recently defected to the jubilee party and asked that their seats be declared vacant.
