Thika sub-county Administrator Rose Muthoni has sought to assure Thika residents that road maintenance and repairs in the sub-county will continue and complete as scheduled.
This is after a section of the residents complained of delayed completion of some roads which had dragged for months.
Speaking in her Thika office on Monday, Muthoni noted that many roads that were undergoing repairs and expansion were now complete and already in use.
“We recently opened up the Engen-Pilot road for use by motorists because we had closed it for a while for maintenance. Before this we had Thika-Gatitu Road that was undergoing expansion. The remaining few will be complete in due time," said Muthoni.
She further noted that Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) was also doing its part by regularly carrying out periodic maintenance of urban roads under it in the sub-county.
“KURA is doing their part in as far as looking after the road under their mandate is concerned. The county government has also been on the fore-front and almost all roads leading in or outside Thika town have received a facelift," she added.
Muthoni reiterated her earlier appeal to area residents and road users to bear with them where roads had been partly or completely closed for maintenance, saying it was being done for their own good.
