Dengue fever is an acute febrile disease of the tropics caused by a flavivirus, transmitted by mosquitoes, and characterized by high fever, rash, headache, and severe muscle and joint pain. The virus has been linked to yellow fever and West Nile infection virus.
Reports indicate about 400 million dengue infection cases have been recorded globally with about 96 million resulting in illness. Signs and symptoms may range from mild to severe.
Here are some of the symptoms associated with this disease as highlighted by Melinda Ratini, DO, MS, a physician
1. Sudden high fever
A higher than normal body temperature should explain to you all is not well. High fever can be mistaken for various disorders. It could mean you have typhoid or cholera which might be the case. It could be that you have dengue fever.
2. Fatigue
Have you ever tried asking yourself why you are always tired for no apparent reasons or without doing any task? There are various underlying reasons behind this condition. Fatigue is a sign of dengue fever you ought to know. 3.
3. Vomiting
Another sign that needs your ultimate attention is throwing up. This is one of the critical signs you should never give a hoot. Importantly, see a doctor before the situation snowballs out of hand.
4. Skin rashes
Rashes on your skin can be a sign of a plethora of infections ranging from cancer, HIV/AIDS to dengue fever.
