Four people have lost their lives after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a road accident along Mombasa road.
The accident involved a personal car and a lorry.
The two vehicles collided head on at Makindu, Makueni County.
Confirming the accident, Makueni County police commander Joseph Ole Napeiyan said that those who died were occupants of the personal car.
"The personal car was headed to Nairobi from Mombasa while the lorry was heading to the opposite direction, and on reaching the scene, the small car tried overtaking thus colliding with the lorry," said Napeiyan.
He said that the driver of the small car miscalculated the distance between him and the lorry.
He noted that the four occupants of the small car: two women, a young man, and a small girl all from one family, perished on the spot.
The accident caused a traffic snarl-up in the area.
