Mavoko Constituency Member of Parliament Patrick Makau has told Machakos County residents to come together and stage a demo over the delay in completion of Nairobi-Mombasa road from Namanga road exchange to Kyumbi junction in Machakos.
The vocal legislature took to his Facebook page on Friday, to complain about the delay being caused and the many deaths that have resulted from the road construction.
"It is now evident, the delay to complete Nairobi-Mombasa road from Namanga road exchange to Kyumbi Machakos junction is causing deaths and wasting valued road users time," he wrote.
Makau said that it is a shame to see such things happening yet they are supporting Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and the handshake.
"I call upon the president of Kenya to release funds for completion of the project," he added.
Makau who's popularly known as "Mtemba" noted that in spite of the world Bank holding its 80% contribution, the government should give out its 20% to complete the remaining section of the road.
"I call upon Machakos residents to stage a mother of all demos," he urged.
His sentiments come a few hours after a saloon car collided with a lorry at Mto Mawe along Nairobi-Mombasa road.
The area is now considered as a black spot.
