The Nakuru County government has announced that it will strike a partnership with mobile service provider, Safaricom to improve modalities of revenue collection.

On Wednesday, Governor Kinuthia Mbugua said they project to enhance signal reception in areas where there are barriers with an aim to streamline automation of revenue collection.

He said they have been in talks with Safaricom and have resolved to work together on a programme that will enable people pay their dues to the county government via mobile platform.

“We have managed to collect Sh2.2 billion in revenue, which is a big increase since we started using digital forms of collection. This method has sealed all loopholes where money was previously lost and we hope with working together with Safaricom, we will raise more revenue,” said Mbugua.

He added that with a more elaborate revenue collection mechanism, the county government would initiate more development in the region.
