Investigations have been launched to find out if the building which collapsed on Thursday in Nakuru town killing one person had met the required construction requirements.

Deputy OCPD Janet Wasike said Thursday the probe will ascertain if the owners of the ill-fated building which was under construction had adhered to the requirements.

Speaking at the scene of crime, Wasike confirmed that the foreman who was tasked with overseeing the project was not on site at the time of the accident but promised that he would be grilled.

The police boss clarified that two builders who were digging a foundation were buried alive after the walls of the building caved in.

However, one of the builders succumbed to death at the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital where he had been rushed to for treatment, while the other remained is still unconscious.

She lauded the public for coordinating with the Red Cross Society to rescue the trapped builders.
