A leading global public relations and communications firm, Burson-Marsteller has classified the President Uhuru Kenyatta as the third followed president on instagram among African leaders.
The first position in the African category went to President Abdel Fattah of Egypt as the second position went to former Tanzanian president, Jakaya Kikwete. According to the reports, Fattah had more than half a million followers.
Worldwide, President Kenyatta became number 30 of the most followed presidents. The first position was scooped by the USA president, Barrack Obama who is reported to have over six million followers. Obama also scooped the most effective president on Instagram title.
The report has been well received by Kibera youths. Adam Ishmael said this shows how digital the president is. In his manifesto, President Kenyatta said he will work hard to ensure that Kenya becomes digital. He further promised to give laptops to class one pupils, something that received criticism from the opposition.
Willis Andanje also said social media helps for easier and quick communication, therefore, it shows that the president is a good communicator and can fit in today’s generation.
‘‘It feels nice having a president who has knowledge about new communication tools. It challenges other people to embrace new technology,’’ he said.
