Kisumu residents are set to benefit from free medical service, the office of the wife to Governor Jack Ranguma has announced.

The initiative is co-organised by her office and the County Department of Health.

The medical camp will be held at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) and Kisumu County Hospital from April 10 to 15, 2016.

According to a statement from Olivia Ranguma's office, the camp will be conducted by a team of surgeons from the US working together with surgeons from JOOTRH.

The team will attend to medical conditions such as Fistula, Optical, Orthopaedic, Prostrate cancer and other general surgeries.

There exercise will first see screening done within the seven sub counties at the sub county hospitals, before the main medical camp at JOOTRH and Kisumu County Hospital.

According to the schedule, screening services will be held at Gita and Chiga dispensary on April 5, before a similar exercise at Kombewa and Nyakach Sub County hospitals on April 6.

Another batch of screening services will be done at Ahero and Chulaimbo Sub County Hospitals on April 7 before Nyahera Health Center on April 8.

“Members of the public are urged to turn out in large numbers to access this services and can register with the nearest ward administrator’s office before the end of the month so that the team of specialists can assess their conditions in advance and verify the nature of care required,” read the statement in part.
