A number of Jubilee leaders met on Tuesday evening with the aim of bringing the aspirants together.

Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko Mbuvi and Dagoretti South Member of Parliament Dennis Waweru are among those seeking Jubilee's ticket for the gubernatorial seat.

Among the leaders pushing for a single Jubilee candidate is Starehe MP Maina Kamanda who said the party was out to win the top seat next year, adding that that was the wish of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"You know we have to strategise. It is in the interest of all of us, especially those of us in Nairobi, that we win that seat under Jubilee. That is the wish of the President and the Deputy President has told us as much, that we must win it by all means,” he said.

Kamanda admitted that it will not be easy for the five aspirants to unanimously agree on a common candidate and called on those who will fail to clinch the opportunity to support the winner.

"It looks like this could be decided ultimately in the nominations ballot. But then we must reach an agreement that those whose bid will fail at the primaries support whoever will win," he said.
