Kisumu Senator Prof Anyang Nyong’o has refuted claims that he is a mean man who does not part even with a coin.
Prof Nyong’o who has set his eyes on the Kisumu gubernatorial seat in 2017 says the claims are baseless and non issue.
He said on several occasions, he has helped the locals with diverse problems.
The Senator said what he is against is giving hand outs to people who have the capacity to fend for themselves.
Speaking in Nyando constituency on Friday during a memorial service for Mzee Absalom Ouya, the father to former town clerk Patrick Ouya, Prof Nyong’o said he gives out cash for worthy courses.
“You cannot come to me when you are well dressed that I give you handouts. I only give cash to individuals for worthy cases,” he said.
Ouya who also intends to run for Nyando parliamentary seat in 2017 threw his weight behind the Senator as the best candidate to succeed Governor Jack Ranguma.
He said he has buried the political hatchet between him and that of the current Nyando MP Fred Outa who has since declared interest for Senatorial position in 2017.
Ouya said he has teamed up with MP Outa to ensure Prof Nyong’o becomes the next Kisumu Governor.
“My people, vote for Prof Nyong’o for a better change in this county. This is best person to bring the desired change that we need,” he said.
