Keter disclosed that Garissa County is ninth in national grid connection after President Uhuru Kenyatta commissioned the Kindaruma-Mwingi-Garissa 132KV transmission line at Garissa substation on Friday.

In a news bulletin on KBC radio, Keter pointed out that 70% of Kenyans will have access to electricity by June 2017 saying that the government has now subsidised the cost of connection from Sh35,000 to Sh15,000.

He was speaking in Elgeyo Marakwet County on Monday when he launched the Last Mile Project.

“My work is to ensure by June next year 70% of Kenyans are connected to electricity. This financial year we have assigned over Sh6 billion for power connection.

At the same time, Keter added that the government has made cheap the cost of connection to Kenyans by making it affordable to all Kenyans since it can also be paid in instalments.
