Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa has accused Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and other Cord political leaders of causing chaos during the Malindi by-election.

Speaking during the commissioning of the new Lunga Lunga Sub-County in Kwale on Thursday, Marwa said the leaders are responsible for the chaos that were witnessed during the by-elections.

"All the officers attached to Joho, Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi and Kilifi women's representative Aisha Jumwa are the ones who were beating up residents in Malindi. Surely who is going to protect the citizens? Somebody must take up responsibility,” said Marwa.

Marwa said action must be taken against the leaders because they broke the law.

“Why should Joho, Kingi and Aisha and their goons break the law with impunity and go scot-free. They even went to the extend of undressing a woman who is somebody's mum," said Marwa.

The regional coordinator was referring to an incident where a middle-aged lady was undressed by a group of people over claims of voter bribery.

On Thursday, County Director of Communications Richard Chacha confirmed that officers attached to the Mombasa governor were withdrawn.
