Coast-based singer Nyota Ndogo has embarked on a mission to empower the less privileged in the society through her Nyota Ndogo Sauti ya Wanyonge foundation.
The Watu na Viatu hitmaker has clearly shown that that her influence is beyond the studio.
Her decision to set a foundation to empower women of different ages has made her more popular.
The talented artist has worked with other musicians including Ally B to touch the lives of the common mwananchi across the nation.
The foundation aims at empowering women to become self-dependent.
“Through the Nyota Ndogo Sauti Ya Wanyonge Foundation, I am aiming at helping women, as well as other marginalised sections of the society, to get to a higher level in life,” she said, as quoted by The Star.
The songbird confirmed that she has received overwhelming response from women with the desire the change their destinies, adding that she was compelled to stop admitting members after attaining her target of 40 women.
This was after she reached out to her fans through social media seeking to get 10 women who were willing and able to contribute Sh5,000 per month to invest in real estate.
Nyota said she was touched by the response considering most of the women expressing interest in the foundation have never met her physically.
