Mount Kenya University (MKU) plans to erect a Sh1 billion commercial building in Nakuru town in a bid to take advantage of expansion of the town.
MKU founder and board of trustee Chairman Dr Simon Nyutu Gicharu said he has already bought land for the construction of the proposed mega commercial building.
He said he is planing to invest the money to put up the modern business complex in Nakuru because he want to create jobs for young Kenyans.
Dr Gicharu said preparatory works of the building are almost complete.
He said the ground breaking ceremony will be held in August this year.
He said currently, he is focusing on the on going construction of MKU's Nakuru Town Campus student hostels, which he is spending Sh400 million to erect.
The project is expected to be completed at the end of the year.
