Gitaru MCA Charles Arahuka has urged residents to thoroughly vet politicians seeking elective seats before electing them in the forthcoming 2017 general elections.
The MCA observes that some aspirants are only out to get votes and disappear.
He said that voters have an opportunity to question political aspirants before voting for them.
Speaking at Gitaru trading centre in Kabete constituency on Wednesday, Arahuka noted that many elected leaders have failed to fulfil the pledges they made to locals.
“It is important for voters to ensure that they understand the people who are seeking their votes and make informed choices when the voting time comes,” he said.
The MCA also asked locals not to be swayed by politicians who want to cause violence ahead of the 2017 polls.
He urged residents to remain peaceful ahead of the forthcoming polls.
Arahuka observed that some politicians take advantage of the elections to perpetuate disunity.
He appealed to youths in the area not to be used by selfish politicians to disrupt peace.
