Outspoken lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has now endorsed Prof Makau Mutua as Kenya's next Chief Justice.
Chief Justice David Maraga will be leaving the Judiciary in 2021 having served his six-year non-renewable term. He was first appointed in 2016.
On his Twitter account on Thursday, Ahmednasir insisted that Prof Mutua has all it takes to steer the Judiciary to the next level.
He hailed him as an intellectual, adding that he will be able to fight inefficiency and corruption within the corridors of power.
"Prof @makaumutua is an amazing guy with an amazing resume. He has a lot to offer to Kenya. His intellect is at another level.
"And I think he should be Kenya's next CJ and clean the Judiciary of corruption, inefficiency and incompetence that defines it under CJ Maraga...@KoinangeJeff," he said.
Mutua, a Dean of Buffalo School of Law in New York, has been critical of Jubilee administration. Before 2017 polls, he refused to recognize President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto.
In 2016, Mutua applied for the Chief Justice post. He had tendered a 91-page CV, a move that elicited intellectual debate on social media.
Maraga's succession is set to take shape next year. His deputy Philomena Mwilu, is facing a number of corruption allegations.
