President Uhuru Kenyatta has send a warning to corrupt officials and tax evaders.
Speaking in Mombasa during the flagging off of crude oil shipment, the head of state distanced himself from anyone who will be caught breaking the law.
“These guys have decided it’s do or die. When they catch up with you, just know I don’t give instructions to them. It is you who has been caught on the wrong. We will only read it on the newspapers that you have been nabbed. So wherever you are, keep your eyes open and be very careful with what you do,” Uhuru said as quoted by Citizen.
Uhuru further noted that he will not pick any calls begging him for help after being caught in corrupt deals.
“Right now, there is no making calls saying you are in trouble and pleading for help, carry own cross," added the head of state as quoted by Citizen.
Uhuru maintained that law enforcers, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) are not acting in his directives.
President Uhuru was speaking after allegations that Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) officials have inflated the budget of the New Kipevu Oil Terminal.
He warned them and asked them to refrain from such deals.
“Here at the port, we are monitoring and watching you. We know the money you were supposed to use, what you used and what you intended to use. We also know what you do to slow down clearance of cargo and also sneak goods into the country,” said the President as quoted by Citizen.
