In a tweet, Khalwale, who has promised to support Deputy President William Ruto in 2022, said he was attending the burial of a friend and fellow bullfighter.

The politician went on to apologise for missing the event. He also said that the loss of the legend is a big blow to the country.

“Am so so sorry for missing today's burial of Joe Kadenge in Vihiga. It's because I was attending the Shilembe of the burial of Anthony Mulima in Shinyalu. My bull, Malinya, buried him. RIP bullfighter,” he said.

During burial, leaders from the Mulembe nation pledged to remain united until one of their own ascends to power. The warned Deputy President against making inroads in the region.

Led by Makadara MP George Aladwa, the politicians said that they will unite because they want power, adding that the second in command is in for a rude shock this time around.

“Ruto should keep off Luhya politics. He should let us organise ourselves for 2022. We have our own leaders,” he stated, as quoted by Daily Nation.

His remarks were backed by Shinyalu MP Justus Kizito and Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa among other leaders from the region.
