Former presidential candidate, Peter Kenneth has called on Kenyans to desist electing leaders based on ethnicity.

Kenneth said choices like these are the ones that have led to corruption in the country. Kenneth took to his Facebook page on Wednesday and urged Kenyans to learn from the NYS scandal that led to the loss of sh791 million shillings lost.

‘‘We are being taught that when power is accounted to the tribe it is the treasurer that suffers and when the treasury suffers, poverty thrives. We are being shown how our leaders convert tribalism to cash. This is what happens when the polls close and voters go home,’’ read the post.

Kenneth said Kenyans might not know the depth of corruption in the government but they know the cost. This comes a day after a Kibera resident complained of too much corruption being witnessed amongst government officials.

The resident said EACC was not doing much to bring the culprits to justice.
