Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has revealed why police initially rejected a request by Cord to hold a demonstration against the IEBC.
On Friday, Mr Boinnet rejected a request by Cord to hold a protest to force IEBC commissioners out of office.
The IG said the police could not grant the opposition permission to hold the demonstrations because the court had ruled over the same matter before.
This is as per the statement that was issued by the police boss.
In the statement, Mr Boinett indicated that the notice was turned down on grounds of High Court barring any protests against the electoral body which has always been at the center of all the demonstrations.
The police further warned that they will deal with anybody who would the law.
"We wish to inform that the notice cannot be honored on account of valid reasons issued by the High Court of Kenya on April 29, 2016, with two further extensions issued on May 6, 2016 and on May 26, barring any demonstrations against IEBC. Consequently, any violations against the orders will be dealt with as required by the law," the statement read in part.
He also said a decision by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria to mobilize Jubilee supporters to counter Cord's protests will not be allowed by the police.
