Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leaders have said that they do not hold any personal grudge against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners.
Cord principal Raila Odinga together with Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Siaya Senator James Orengo reiterated that they are not targeting IEBC officials as individuals but as commissioners.
Speaking in Garissa Town during a political rally, Raila said even though he played a role in the appointment of IEBC Chairman Isaack Hassan, it does not mean he cannot correct him.
"When you give birth to a son and he turns out to be a criminal, will you not send him to prison just because he is your son?" asked Raila.
On his part, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, claimed that the commissioners are ready to vacate office but are worried about their send-off package.
"Majority of our brothers at the commission have said that they are also tired and would want to go but the problem is their package," said Joho.
This comes after National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale accused Cord of targeting the commissioners because some of them are Muslims.
