A 46-year-old woman from Murogi village, Nakuru County has been thrown out of her matrimonial home by her husband for allegedly giving birth to girls only.
Talking to journalist in the streets of Nakuru town, the distraught, hungry, weather- beaten woman who was accompanied by two of her five daughters, said she had never known peace or love in the last twenty-five years of her marriage as her husband had incessantly beaten her and abandoned her due to giving birth to girls only.
She said the older girls have been forced to go and live with their relatives, adding that her husband, Alfred Lang’at often assaulted her and the girls in their twenty five years of marriage.
She said the man married another wife “to try if she can bear boys for him.”
She narrated how her husband had physically abused her several times forcing her to seek refuge from neighbors’ houses.
“This has become a song and I can’t stand it anymore. All I want is go back to my father and mother in Bomet County where I can live peacefully with my children,” Janet said, tears rolling down her cheeks.
