Police are pursuing a gang of about four men who allegedly shot dead a man in his vehicle on Thursday evening at around 6pm near Ruiru Power station.

According to an eyewitness who sought anonymity, the man was driving in his Toyota Prado when a white Probox came from behind speeding past his vehicle. Occupants of the Probox shot him from the driver window.

He said that the men sped off through Thika superhighway leaving the man lying in a pool of blood in his vehicle. The incident attracted huge crowds of onlookers who immediately informed the police.

“I was just sited near the power station gate across the road when the white Probox on high speed drove and without stopping a man withdrew a pistol from the front seat and shot at the man driving a Prado. I noticed four men in the vehicle,” he said.

Following the incident, Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira has confirmed that the police have launched investigations on the criminal act which he says was well planned and executed by high-profile killers as they aimed correctly.

He added that no resident of Ruiru has come out confirming knowing the deceased yet but called upon the members of public to give out any significant information on the whereabouts of the culprits.

“We heard gunshots from the police station and also received calls from the public. We have noted that the men had planned as they shot him on the head and left him dead - a clear indication that they had only one motive – to kill,” Thuranira said.

The OCPD further expressed his concerns over the increasing criminal activities in Ruiru sub-county saying that the residents have been hesitant of exercising the Nyumba Kumi and Community policing initiatives which, according to him, are the only solutions to the end of insecurity.

The body of deceased was taken to Kenyatta University funeral home waiting to be claimed by relatives.
