Cord leader Raila Odinga on Thursday joined Kenyans in eulogising former Cabinet Minister Ndolo Ayah who died on Wednesday.

The late Ayah died at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi after a short illness according to family members.

"Mama Ida and I join Kenyans in mourning former Cabinet Minister Mr Wilson Ndolo Ayah who passed on yesterday," Raila, on his official Facebook page said.

"We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the former Minister who was also our family friend. Mr Ayah dedicated his life to serving his people from his days as a young man seeking to shape the destiny of his local community and the country through active involvement in politics. In his death, our country has lost a significant figure in its history. I wish his family peace and stability at this critical moment of pain.

The late Ayah served during the Daniel Arap Moi's regime as Minister for Foreign Affairs as well as Minister for Research, Science and Technology.

He was first elected to Parliament in 1969 representing Kisumu Rural constituency which he lost in 1974.
