Six students; four boys and two girls from Kiing'ero secondary school were on Tuesday arraigned in a Kikuyu court for allegedly burning down the school's administration block.
The students between the age of 15-18 took their plea in camera due to their age. The prosecution desk told the court that on the 10th of this month at around 5 pm, the students planned to commit the crime as a result that the school administration had cancelled a music contest following previous indecent behaviours with other students in neighboring schools.
The prosecution explained that the suspects tried to mobilise other students into the act, and are said to have bought petrol in a small jerican at the shell petrol station at Kikuyu town.
The prosecution explained that the six then put into flames the administration block that evening at around 6pm when they were supposed to be home since its a day school but delayed pretending to be studying only to commit the crime.
"According to the school administration, those who remain in school for further personal studies must write their names at the school's security desk to inform the administration of their stay for security puposes and the six were the only ones who wrote," said the prosecution desk.
The six denied the charges, and were granted a Sh100,000 bond each by Chief magistrate James Ogweno.
He said the case will be heard on the June 20, 2016.
