The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) is aimed at ensuring Kenyans access quality and affordable medical services.
NHIF has gone digital and this has made it possible for members to contribute to their accounts via M-Pesa in any location, at any time and in a fast, safe and convenient way. The payment is made each month either by an individual or by an employer.
To contribute towards your NHIF account, ensure that you are registered with M-Pesa and that the M-Pesa account is active. Top up the amount you wish to contribute bearing in mind the Safaricom M-Pesa charges.
It is important to remember that self employed members contribute Sh500 monthly.
To contribute towards your NHIF account follow these steps.
1. Proceed to your sim-card menu on your Safaricom line, choose the M-Pesa option and click on Lipa na M-Pesa
2. Select the paybill option
3. Key in the NHIF Mpesa Paybill number 200222
4. Enter your contributor’s National identity card number
5. Input the amount you would like to contribute
6. Put in your M-Pesa PIN
7. Check and confirm that details are accurate, press okay
8. Wait for a confirmation SMS from M-Pesa indicating the successful transfer of money to your NHIF account.
