Former Mukurwe-ini Member of Parliament Kabando Wa Kabando has come into the defence of President Uhuru Kenyatta amid heavy criticism over collapsing economy particularly on social media.
Kabando said there were enough reasons to be furious with the president, but said he should be pardoned due to his sustained war on corruption.
In a tweet on Sunday, the politician, who is allied to Kieleweke faction, asked Kenyans to support the president and institutions mandated to fight graft so the war can be won.
"Some of us may have reasons to be angrily disappointed with President Uhuru. But for his boldfight against graft, his losing many friends and allies; deserves unconditional support. He needs our support. With EACC, DCI, ODPP raids, its "messy and noisy" for thieves," he posted.
Kabando called for the full implementation of Kroll and Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission reports in efforts to recover assets looted from taxpayers’ money and in ending lawlessness.
"To deal with the future we must deal with the past. let's boldly deal with timeless Kroll report and TJRC report. This will be a great start on the journey to end corruption and impunity in this hugely rich country yet poverty-stricken," the ex-legislator stated.
Kroll Report of 2003 is a forensic study by Kroll Associates which found out that about Sh142 billion was looted from national coffers and stashed in offshore bank accounts during the regime of retired President Daniel Arap Moi.
On the other hand, TJRC Report has recommendations on how to end ethnic conflicts, political violence, marginalization among others.
Two days ago, Kabando asked Uhuru to dissolve his entire Cabinet so as to save his legacy.
"Mr President Sir, let no charlatan or lackey lie to you. This country is bleeding economically. Kenyans everywhere are angry, frustrated and desperate. Dissolve your entire cabinet and start afresh. You’re the boss with SWORD, crash saboteurs. They’re making you lame-duck," he said.
