Faithfuls at Iranda SDA church in Bonyamatuta, West Mugirango constituency in Nyamira County are in shock after thieves broke into the church, stole sound system and other valuables.
Pastor Daniel Moenga speaking on Saturday said faithful arrived at the church for service only to find the instruments missing.
"It is shocking that thieves broke the window of the church and stole church instruments. We are stranded and we do not know what to do because other members returned to their homes," said the frustrated pastor.
Moenga has called upon police officers to move with speed to bring the suspects to book.
"All our hopes are now to the police officers to pursue the thieves. It is shocking that thieves can steal from the house of the Lord," he added.
The pastor also said the thieves stole a cooking gas cylinder.
Nyamira County commissioner Amos Mariba assured the faithful that a probe to the case has commenced in establishing who the thieves are.
"The thieves are being hunted down by police. It is a matter of time before we can arrest the thieves. I urge the public to provide information to police to facilitate the arrest of the thieves," he noted.
The commissioner warned local youths against engaging in theft.
