The central government has increased the counties allocation to Sh316 billion, up from the initial Sh310 proposal.
The revised amount is set to be tabled in the National Assembly on Tuesday next week, but is likely to be contested in the senate which has proposed Sh327 billion.
The same amount was proposed by the National Assembly but became a bone of contention between the two houses, with the senate pushing for Sh11 billion more.
The changes were on Tuesday confirmed by National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale who blamed Tue confusion on the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA).
He accused CRA of overstepping its mandate and promising the Senate unrealistic figures, a role entrusted with the National Assembly.
"The commission has been making recommendations based on non-realisable revenues and has been wearing hats of the National Assembly and Senate by promising counties unrealistic figures and actually sitting on the division table and negotiating on the divisions,” he said.
Governors under the leadership of Council of Governors (CoG) chair Wycliffe Oparanya on Monday held demonstrations in the streets of Nairobi pushing for more funds.
They warned that the proposed allocation is little and might soon see operations stall in the 47 devolved units.
