It is now evident that the continued water crisis in Garissa town and its surrounding environs lies within the county government.
According to area residents, the county government has never had official water CEC since Muktar was dismissed a year ago, saying that this could be the possible reason why the county is lacking the proper mechanism to address water shortage.
'’Jama should address this situation immediately. Why has it taken him over a year to pick water CEC? We are watching him closely,’' said Osman, a resident of Garissa town.
Garissa Town has never had a reliable water supply for the last two years, with people expressing the opinion that the governor has to appoint someone who is competent in water issues so as to address the situation once and for all.
Governor Nathif Jama during his campaigns, prior to the 2013 elections, had promised to end water shortage crisis in Garissa town and its outskirts.
The issue will remain a litmus test if he will defend his coveted position come 2017.
