The residents of Kariminu in Gatundu North sub county have been urged to embrace the services offered by the Kenya National Hospital Insurance Fund in an effort to help them cater to their medical bills.
Addressing the residents at Kariminu Dispensary on Friday, Dorothy Nyambura the dispensary superintendent noted that many of the area residents are not yet registered with NHIF.
Nyambura appealed to the residents to secure NHIF cards for better health service care delivery whenever they are admitted in hospitals.
"I don’t want any of you to remain in hospital because of pending bills. This card might not seem important to many but it is very vital in clearing of bills. Kindly make the effort of applying early enough," she insisted.
The health officer recounted that the NHIF charges are low making them affordable to the common mwananchi.
She said that the card would ensure better and quicker health care provision to all residents irrespective of their financial abilities.
She further observed that a healthy nation helps to foster the social, political and economic development of a nation.
"A healthy nation does not only foster developments socially, politically and economically but also helps citizens to live in peace. This card will eliminate public harambees many people do in an effort to clear their friends' bills for example," she noted.
