Speaking on Tuesday when he appeared before the Senate Committee on legal affairs, Githu insisted that failure of the electronic voting system is almost definite, warning that such a scenario would be detrimental to the the electoral process.

"In Kenya, we have a manual voting system with few electronic interventions. Voting largely remains manual," he said. "...this is the nature of electronic gadgets. If the machines will fail for any reason, the paper ballot shall be in place to take over," he added.

The AG further challenged all stakeholders to listen to the electoral body's suggestions on the voting process.

"Let us listen to IEBC and what they have to say. Relevant guidelines of electronic voting shall also be availed to the public for scrutiny," he said.
