Residents of Athi river town Mavoko sub-county, Machakos county have urged the chairman for National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Lee Kinyanjui to build them a footbridge in the area along Nairobi-Mombasa road in a bid to reduce cases of accidents.
Mary Muisyo a resident from the area explained that the area is prone to accidents and it's dangerous, more so children going to school in the morning.
Muisyo said that kids going to school spend a lot of time waiting for vehicles to pass in order to cross where they get to school very late.
Furthermore, Muisyo called upon Athi river OCPD Kizito Mtoro to ensure there's a traffic police in the area to help children coming or going from school cross the road without getting hit.
"Mombasa road is a wide road which is dangerous to pedestrians and mostly school kids crossing, if there is a footbridge accident cases would reduce and crossing the road would have been made easier," said Muisyo.
