Speaking to Ann Kiguta of Citizen TV during a political debate on 2017 elections' game plan, Duale said Cord had not yet even decided on a flag-bearer and hence such uncertainty could not be allowed to be transferred to Kenyans.

The debate held on Sunday, October 23, also had on the panel Gem MP Jakoyo who countered Duale's claim and said that delaying to announce the flag-bearer was in no way connected to Kenya's leadership.

"Cord has failed to announce its flag-bearer for 2017 and as such cannot be trusted with Kenya's leadership. As Jubilee Party, we have already laid bare what we intend to do for the country and I therefore call on Kenyans to stay with Jubilee as it more focused," said Duale.

Duale also downplayed the impact of Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi on joining Cord saying his presence in Cord will only spark more tension in the choosing of the flag-bearer position.

However, Jakoyo said Duale's claim was biased and that Kenyans should be given a chance to choose a leader of their choice.

"The people should not be swayed easily by mere sweet talk. Cord is more focused as ever and we are going to decide on the flag-bearer position when we see fit. Jubilee should not be talking about Cord affairs as they have their own shortcomings as Jubilee," said Jakoyo.
