Matinag'i said the government has put in place mechanisms to net lazy teachers.

The CS asked teachers to commit themselves to work and help improve the education standards in the country.

“The government will not tolerate lazy teachers and proper measures are in place to monitor those who fail to perform,” said the CS.

He spoke during the official opening the 41st Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KSSHA) in Mombasa on Tuesday.

Matiang’i assured teachers that the government was keen to improve their terms and conditions of service.

‘We as the government remain committed to ensure that teachers have the best terms and conditions for work,” he said.

The Education CS also appealed to teachers unions to partner with the government and help improve standards of education.

On matters of examination irregularities, the CS warned head teachers who collude to steal examinations saying they will be immediately sacked and prosecuted.

“This time things are different and anyone teacher found aiding in examination malpractices will face the law ruthless, “warned the CS.
