Githunguri Sub County Deputy Commissioner (DCC) Julius Mutula has put on notice bhang peddlers saying that they will be hunted down, arrested and prosecuted.
According to the DCC bhang peddling is on the rise in the area.
He noted that some peddlers are using minors in the illegal business.
"We are working on intelligence that bhang peddlers are employing minor’s in their illegal businesses and we are going to act on them ruthlessly," he said during a public baraza at Githunguri grounds on Saturday.
The DCC urged residents to volunteer information that will lead to arrest of the drug suspects. Mutula also cautioned young people against being lured into bhang smoking and drug abuse.
He warned that police will not hesitate to arrest anyone found engaging in drug peddling.
Mutua asked parents to closely monitor activities their children engage in order to avert cases of drug abuse among children.
The DCC at the same time lauded residents for working with the police to tame crime.
He observed that security has improved in the area courtesy of the good relationships between the locals and the law enforcers.
