Mr Moi, the son to former President Daniel arap Moi told the DP that he might need Mr Odinga's support in 2022 to fulfill his presidential ambitions.

The lawmaker said Ruto had made it a habit to insult the former prime minister whenever he gets a platform to address Kenyans.

The first time MP said the abuses Mr Ruto directs at the opposition chief might work against him politically in future.

Mr Ruto, according to a Memorandum of Understanding signed between his party, United Republican Party and President Uhuru Kenyatta's The National Alliance will contest for the presidency in 2022.

The deal struck ahead of the 2013 general election says the DP will contest for the presidency in 2022 after supporting Uhuru in 2013 and 2017.

"Ruto has become so much insecure of late and is seemingly unaware of the looming political shock that is staring at him in 2022," Mr Moi said on Thursday in Rongai town.

"He should stop regarding everybody in Cord as his personal enemy because by attacking political icons like Raila each time, he is doing it against himself. The real issue that DP Ruto has against the opposition is that he considers Raila as his stumbling block in politics."

Mr Ruto before the 2007 general election was Raila's close ally as they were both senior members of the Orange Democratic Movement.

The DP supported Raila during the bungled poll that was subsequently followed by the Post-Election Violence which claimed over 1,300 lives mostly in Rift Valley.

The two however, fell after Raila struck a deal with then President Mwai Kibaki to form a coalition government in which Ruto was Agriculture Minister.

Their disagreements began when the former premier led a campaign that targeted at evicting people from the famous Mau forest, part of which lies in Mr Ruto's county, Uasin Gishu.

Ruto stood against the evictions and was later sacked from cabinet following accusations that he was involved in the importation of cheap maize into the country.

Since then, he has been one of Raila's fiercest critics.
