Processed foods are those that have been modified either to improve taste or increase shelf life.
Some examples of processed foods include sausages, cheese, sweetened beverages, frozen pizza, burgers and so on.
Below are some of the things that happen to your body when you consume too much of the processed foods;
1. Digestive issues
Processed foods can cause digestion troubles including failure of your digestive system to break down the foods. These foods contain chemicals and additives which are very difficult for our bodies to digest and process.
2. Low blood sugar
When you eat a lot of processed foods, your blood sugar immediately increases. Due to this, the body produces a lot of insulin to combat this situation. When a lot of insulin is produced, blood sugar suddenly reduces to very low levels.
3. You add too much weight
Continuous intake of processed foods might lead to severe weight gain. Most processed foods are packed with too much calories that the body cannot break down. This causes fast weight gain that can be dangerous to your entire health.
4. Your teeth are a mess
Regular chewing of processed foods with added sugar can cause damage to your teeth. These sugars are acted upon by bacteria in the mouth producing acids that cause tooth decay and cavities.
What happens is that most processed foods come with excessive salts and sugar. The sodium in salt isn't healthy for the body on that it draws off water from your system making you feel constant thirst.
