ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga on Tuesday met Most Rev Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury together with the Head of the Anglican Church in Kenya (ACK) Bishop Jackson ole Sapit in Nairobi.
In a tweet, Raila said that they discussed a wide range of issues including the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
He also said that the religious leaders pledged to support the report.
The African Union Special Envoy noted that Reverend Welby said that the BBI is a document that will transform the society if it is implemented to the latter and that it will change the social, political and economic aspects of the country upon implementation.
"Met with the Most Rev. Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury together with the Head of the Anglican Church in Kenya Bishop Jackson ole Sapit. The Archbishop described the BBI report as “a remarkable document that can be used to “change the ethos and culture of the country," Raila said in the tweet.
The meeting comes three days after the ODM leader and other politicians held a meeting at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega where they popularized the BBI report.
In his speech, Raila said that his main aim is to see Kenya united and dismissed claims that he wants to use the report to become the President.
"2022 is going to be an event, it will come and go, but Kenya will continue. That is what BBI stands for. Raila Odinga does not have to be the president of Kenya, but Kenya must have a good president,'' he said, as quoted in a tweet by KTNNews.
